ACB Batting Helmet Safety Compliance
In an effort to continually improve the safety of our league, ACB now requires that all batters and base runners in the 11-12 division and under must wear a batting helmet which has a full caged face protective mask. Any batting helmet worn by a batter/base runner must meet NOCSAE standards. All teams this year will be outfitted with at least (4) brand new one size fits all helmets for their players who do not wish to purchase there own. For anyone purchasing a new helmet this year, approved helmets will have the NOCSAE compliance noted on the helmet and are also endorsed by Little League Baseball. Some players may have already purchased new helmets this past year and wish to still use them. For these players there are masks that can be purchased at most major sports outfitters that can be fastened to your existing helmet with some helmet modification. It is recommended that you bring your helmet with you when purchasing a mask as not all masks will fit the various styles of batting helmets available. Team managers will not permit the use of any helmets that do not meet the new safety requirement. Any player not wearing a full caged face mask helmet will not be permitted to participate in batting or base running. This applies in all ACB activities including but not limited to: practices, games, tournaments, indoor training center, etc.
While the league understands that this may be inconvenient for some parents and players we felt that the safety of our players was the highest priority in making our decision. Over the years there have been accidents where batters have been hit in the face by a thrown/hit baseball. The injuries sustained by these players would have been avoided if their faces were protected. If this new safety rule eliminates only one major injury in it's lifetime, it would have been worth our efforts - especially if it is your child. Please help us to embrace the new rule and promote safety in YOUR league.
Below are pictures of the various styles of helmets/masks that are NOCSAE approved.

About Our League
ACB - Austintown Community Baseball is a Williamsport sanctioned non-profit baseball organization that operates completely from the volunteerism of its community! The youth belonging to the ACB organization play baseball at two complexes, located in the heart of Austintown.
Please remember, without the volunteerism from the parents of our community our youth program will take an enormous hit. It is through the volunteerism of YOU that our organization has been so successful. Please continue to support Austintown Community Baseball, your reward will be in the faces of our children!!! |
